VCU FTC Kick-Off Workshops: FREE! Includes Continental Breakfast and Lunch!! (Sponsored by Rockwell Collins)

When: September 28, 2013 (SATURDAY) from 8:30 Am until 3:00 PM  
Where: VCU School of Engineering West Hall
Our workshops are FREE and a MUST for rookie and veteran teams! A great learning & networking opportunity!

On the registration form, take a best guess at how many of your team will be coming so we have enough coffee, breakfast, snacks & drinks and PIZZA for lunch on hand!
Registration deadline is Monday September 23rd or at workshop capacity! 
Tentative schedule:
Welcome coffee/donuts            8:45am -    9:15am (check-in)
Opening remarks:                      9:30am -   9:45am
Session A:                               10:00am - 10:45am
Session B:                               10:55am - 11:40pm
Session C:                               11:50am -12:30 pm
Session D:                                 1:15pm-   2:00 pm
Session E:                                 2:00pm-   3:00 pm
Field and Field Elements room will be open from 9am until 2:30pm

Bus Parking Available: please pull in front of West Hall Engineering Building and a greeter will give bus driver parking instructions
Car Parking: Available on street. Please note most signs state two hour parking, but it is generally overlooked on a Saturday (not guaranteed by VirginiaFIRST). The parking deck might be open (again, sorry this is out of our control).
Proposed session workshops:
1.     Veteran FTC team panel to answer rookie questions! 
2.     LabView and RobotCbring your laptop loaded with either software and let our experts show you the ropes! Beginning and advanced classes will be offered. 
3.     PTC: learn how to use the robot drawing software that is provided in your kit of parts! This workshop is presented by PTC trainers on laptops PTC will provide. If you wish to use your own laptop, software must be pre-loaded.
4.     Samantha Module: bring your Samantha and our experts will walk you through the steps to set up your WIFI! A MUST for rookies!! Presented by inventor John Tobeus
5.     Material and Design ChoicesFTC has new material choices! Learn about the various choices from veteran coaches!
6.     Engineering Notebook: needed for all judged awards! Learn how to document your notebook in the new format! Presenters include VA judge advisors and last year’s Engineering Notebook State Champion team!
7.     Inspection: hardware and software inspectors will go over the inspection process! 
8.     Judging: State judges will review the judging process and veteran teams will let you know what your team should expect in the judging room!
9.     Referee: Our head ref will be available to go over the new game and game rules!
10.  Fundraising and Outreach: Learn how to fundraise effectively and how to look for outreach opportunities from our State Inspire Award winner!
  Inventor: Use Autodesk Inventor to draw your robot. Bring Laptop with Inventor installed and parts downloaded to get the most out of this workshop! (seeFTC team blast from FIRST for additional Web learning opportunities!)
